Professor Saunders from the centre of independent studies has launched a new book today, (the government giveth, the government taketh away.) With health costs predicted to soar he is suggesting that people have the choice to “opt out” of Medicare. He is suggesting a similar plan to that of Singapore. His plan would mean that you could “opt out” with cash $3000, and get $2500 tax break per year. ALL children would be covered until they’re 18. This is said to save $25-$50 billion per year from the health budget. This will also mean a rationalization of the public sector would be able to take place (Centrelink, Family assistance office & ATO) thereby having a smaller bureaucracy and generate further savings. The social reliance on the government will also ease and we may be able to get back our “can do spirit”.
As I pay $1500+ in Medicare levies, don’t go to a G.P., don’t take pharmaceuticals, don’t get welfare and have an ethical and religious opposition to MANY things that Medicare pays for (but am forced to contribute) I say that is a great idea……..
………..What do other Nooksters think?

A couple of weeks ago my dear daughter unplugged the computer from the wall!!!! Her reason? Apparently I was causing global warming by leaving it on. I demanded her to tell me where she learnt this rubbish………at school she replies…….I then tried to explain to her that it was not true, and she insisted (quite firmly) that I was wrong. So this has led to a family study of the available data.
This week (Thursday, 8:30pm) on ABC the documentary “THE GREAT GLOBAL WARMING SWINDLE” airs. The ABC copped a lot of flack for buying this doco. So much so that the hard left in the ABC even “protested”. The documentary will be followed by a Lateline forum that will interview the film maker on a range of topics including the science and credibility of the scientists in the documentary and how they feel they were represented in the doco. This will conclude with a forum of a range of scientists, social commentators, environmentalists and business leaders from Australia.
For those who have already seen this doco on google video this added forum is a vital part in unravelling the social myths that we are being fed with.
This is a not to be missed programme for all who want to understand the reality of our climate and not the propaganda that is in the commercial media.
The poll conducted by the Sydney Morning Herald last week showed that the majority of Australians support his eminence Cardinal Pell.
Cardinal Pell recently highlighted to catholic M.Ps in N.S.W. that they can’t remain in the church and betray the sanctity of life by voting for destructive stem cell research. These comments of course were addressed to and not to non Catholics. in an ever-increasing trend some ultra left wing sections of the media tried to defame Cardinal Pell and were even saying that he not be allowed to address his congregation.
The poll results showed that 50% agreed that Cardinal Pell was doing the right thing. This is overwhelming support and the poll took almost 11,000 votes, which is a good sample. This follows massive support to Christian churches the previous week that said that only 18% of people thought there should be a separation between church and state and a massive 82% supported the church politically engaging around the I.R. debate.
This is great news for the faithful, for the church to have such wide support in these sorts of polls shows that the radical and noisy minority that wish harm on the social order for their own ends are just that, a minority. When so much publicity goes to violent Atheists such as Dawkins, we can view him and his thesis, as the ramblings of a bitter man that is only trying to undermine society. Thankfully a minority view.

Recently I heard on ABC 1026 that a Chinese businessman was sentenced to death for putting poisons into pet food and toothpaste. Well no big news there, however what is news is that he was the manufacturer of these products and they have been exported to western countries!!!! Including Australia. The toothpaste that got to Australia had Di-ethelene glycol in it (anti-freeze) and by chance a staff member of an Australian shop was surfing the net and realised it was on his shops shelf and alerted authorities, which in turn triggered a recall and investigation.
It was discovered that blankets, also from china were imported with formaldehyde in them. There appears to be a loophole in customs regulations that allow this. With regard to toothpaste the Therapeutic goods administration (TGA) claims that toothpaste is a “food” and not open to their scrutiny. Australian/ NZ foods standards does no checks on toothpaste either as they don’t consider it their purvey. Well lets look at these bodies and see who they are really serving.
Food standards Australia already “bend” their rules often in relation to processed food. They allow food with G.M.O.s in them to pass without a label telling the consumer that this is tainted with G.M.O.s. Livestock that have been raised eating G.M.O.s are already in supermarkets as fresh meat and processed product (ie: milk, cheese, rennet, etc). Imported Soya and canola products are rife with G.M.O.s. So what faith can we place in this organisation to “inform consumers” ……..I say NONE
The T.G.A. are even worse they allow drugs with corrupt research onto the market with the most insidious ingredients that don’t have to be declared, as they are not the “active ingredients”. The most documented and notable of the products inflicted on us are vaccinations. Some of the ingredients of vaccinations that the drug companies use but don’t declare include:
Thimerosal (mercury/ preservative)
Aluminum
Formaldehyde
Di ethylene glycol (anti freeze)
Methlparbaren.
These all have links with cancer and NOT ONE vaccination has been EVER tested for carcinogens or its impact on the consumers. Although an objective look at the trend of health issues over the past 30 years in Australia with kids getting Leukemia, lymphoma. (not to mention Autism, “SIDS” and behavior disorders) and other diseases that these ingredients are known to cause as epidemic we could cite a casual link worth research (independent).
The total Mercury a child receives with their first session at the “health” centre is 62.5ug, which is 125x RFD, and this repeated time and time again. If one was to call poisons information line and say “I have 62.5ug of thimerosal and I’m intend in injecting it into myself what do you recommend” their reply would be ”DON’T. It may cause cancer, psychological problems or even death.
Looking after the public……gimme a break…..looking after corporations more like it!!!!

I do have a wonderful survival story to tell of our much loved dog Misty. Last year I was mowing the nature strip and Misty was out the front with me, my wife went shopping and Misty ran after her (she loves a drive) given that cars go a tad faster than a foxy x jack Russell she ended up not being quick enough to avoid getting herself run over. As this was around the corner I didn’t know until the vet rang. The person who ran over her was wonderful and kindly to take her to the local vet which is also a hospital (We have always been so appreciative of the person for their act of kindness, and left a small gift for them at the vet, but the vet didn’t want to tell us who they were, which in these sort of times is fair enough I ‘spose)…..Anyway, thanks to Misty’s microchip the vet got in contact very promptly and I went up to get their prognosis……….not at all positive to say the least……x-rays revealed that Misty had 2 broken vertebrae down near her tail, she also had a ruptured diaphragm and all her lower guts had pushed through and was pushing her lungs and heart towards her throat……..the vet couldn’t even find a heartbeat!!! And her breathing was so labored that the vet didn’t seem too positive…..Well It was time to assess our (ie: Misty’s) options. It goes without saying that killing her was one option…..an option that was to be left until the very last as far as we were concerned. We discussed the series of operations that the vet said were our other option, the first operation needed to wait until she “stabilized” she remained in intensive care for a couple of days….just clinging to life, and we visited her each day. She went into have her operation that was expected to be about 1 ½ hours…..after 3 hours in surgery with a nurse manually “breathing” for her and the extra damage repaired she was back in intensive care ……..alive but weak. The vet gave no promises but said her will to live was strong. After another 10 days in hospital (with us visiting her each day) she was ready to come home but she needed to be kept from walking or playing for the next 1-2 months. So out comes the handy old “travel cot” that was stored under the house (Mrs. Ark always said it might come in handy) Misty lived in the cot for nearly 6 weeks, all the time needing to have a “prescription diet”( some sort of product for the recovery) and being let out for natures calls too, she needed constant attention and the kids weren’t allowed to play with her or excite her!!!!!! Misty slowly recovered from her immediate life and death struggle, however she still had another operation to deal with. Because she had a couple of broken vertebrae near her tail, her tail “died off” the hair fell out and she started to chew it. She had to have her tail removed. Thankfully she had a solid recovery to that stage, she dealt with this operation well, and it went as expected. The worst was now behind us and Misty came to have a full and total recovery (except no tail). We all love playing with her at the river and parks, she looooves camping and bush walking, she’s very fast and often “overruns” her tennis balls and goes head over (no) tail as she “brakes” from 20kph to Zero in 2 feet…….it’s a laugh I tell you. She even came on our family trip to Adelaide earlier this year. You know when we think back over this incident and Misty’s tale (not tail) of survival against all odds we feel truly blessed to have learned and shared many lessons she has imparted to each member of our family, that love is more powerful than money, that faith and positive thoughts will always prevail and that loyalty is well rewarded

Recently a Nookster opened a discussion on euthanasia, she has deleted the entry without answering many questions put to her. One of the unanswered questions was where did she get the “75% of the population want euthanasia” I found this very hard to believe as euthanasia bills have been repeatedly been defeated in parliaments Australia wide. After some research I found where this inaccurate claim comes from. A.G.B. McNair produced a poll for “The Age” on 7/6/1995 that showed a 75% to 25% result for their question, the sample group was about 1000 (hardly a sizeable group but even more interesting is that the question used is now used by the University of Melbourne (Statistics consulting centre) as an example of how to get a biased answer. Dr. D Weedon of Melbourne University says “the wording of A.G.B. Mc Nair poll is wrong and does not support views on euthanasia”. So we now have established that the claim of 75% in favour of euthanasia completely false.
Another question unanswered was relating to Dr. P. Nitschke (Australia’s Dr Death) and his repeated comments of who should have access to euthanasia. On the 20/3/2002 at the N.S.W. parliament he stated that “anyone should have access to euthanasia not just the terminally ill” He has also been quoted as saying that depressed teenagers should be allowed access to euthanasia. The bill put to the N.S.W. parliament 26-9 rejected to adopt euthanasia.
I also pose another question given that we were “guaranteed” when I.V.F. laws were passed that they could not be changed an that only “married couples” that were infertile would have access (we now see singles and homosexuals accessing it) that the so called “safeguards” in euthanasia bills are sound. What about corruption in the medical field? ……I put a scenario……in the future a government nursing home has residents that have run out of funds to pay for their care and Doctors are paid a fee (ie:profit) to “euthanaise “unprofitable” residents …..Oh yeah those “rock solid safeguards”, History repeats
So Nooksters what do you think ? I am pro life, a Christian and not ashamed to say this topic and my views are influenced by this, but I am truly intrested in this debate and unlike others I will NOT delete your messages if you dont agree.

The Greens have paved the way for nuclear power and waste dumps to be situated in Victoria…….”the Greens you say?” YES the Greens, The report on ABC news online stated that the greens joined with the Liberals to defeat the constitutional mechanism that Labor sought to bring into force. This bill if passed, would’ve meant that there needed to be a plebiscite for a nuclear plant or dump be situated in Victoria, this is a constitutional mechanism and would’ve meant that even if the federal government enacted their powers under the corporations act a “free and fair vote” for all Victorians was still required as not even the mighty corporations act can take away the Victorian constitution. But OH NO the GREENS don’t want a free vote , they don’t want democracy, once in parliament they only want to exercise executive power and rule OVER the public and implement their crazy views, I also know that they are holding off on a private members bill that is very contentious until AFTER the federal election so as to not damage their electoral image, this bill will have some cross party support but is being pushed by ultra left wing feminists group.
BEWARE OF THE GREENS-they aren’t all harmless tree huggers
